About Us
Many Years of Timber Craftsmanship
Board Meets Food is built on a family legacy of furniture making spanning three generations. That depth of knowledge — the understanding of how timber moves, how grain behaves, how joinery holds — is what separates a board that lasts a decade from one that lasts a lifetime.
We've taken that expertise out of the furniture workshop and brought it to your kitchen bench.
Handcrafted in Ballarat, Victoria
Every board we make is handcrafted in Ballarat, Victoria, using premium Australian timbers selected for their natural beauty, durability, and character. We work primarily with Tasmanian Blackwood and Victorian Ash — two of Australia's finest hardwoods — finished with Titebond 3 food-safe adhesive and a food safe oil and pure beeswax coating.
No shortcuts. No flat-pack. Just honest, professional-grade craftsmanship made locally.
Why Australian Timber?
Australian hardwoods are among the most beautiful and durable in the world. Tasmanian Blackwood is prized for its rich, warm grain and natural lustre. Victorian Ash is strong, stable, and takes a finish beautifully. Together, they make boards that are as striking on the table as they are functional in the kitchen.
Timber boards are also naturally antibacterial, gentle on knife edges, and — with the right care — will outlast anything plastic or synthetic.
Free Nationwide Delivery — Always

Made to Last.
We don't make boards for a season. We make them to last many years. Every piece leaves our workshop precision-machined, food-safe finished, and ready to become part of your kitchen story.
When you buy from Board Meets Food, you're supporting local manufacturing, many years of Australian craftsmanship and bringing a piece of our country's natural landscape into your home.
